Emissions Reduction

Compact fluorescent bulbs are displayed at an Ikea store in Philadelphia, Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Swedish home furnishings purveyor Ikea said Tuesday that it hopes to have all incandescent bulbs out of its U.S. and Canadian stores by Jan. 1, in favor of other longer lasting bulbs ahead of federal legislation that calls for a phaseout beginning in 2012. We will work with you to develope an emissions reduction strategy

We will work with you to develop a tailor-made emissions reduction strategy. This will comprise aspects of several components, including the following:

Renewable energy

Using renewable energy is a clear alternative to supporting generation of CO2 emissions. There are a variety of technologies available however it is important to make a thorough assessment of which one(s) best suits your requirements. We advise our clients about which is the best renewable energy for them to try to reduce their footprint and save costs on technologies including: solar photovoltaic and low temperature solar thermal; wind energy; biomass and biofuels etc.

Energy Efficiency

The implementation of energy efficiency systems can reduce power demands and save money. We advise our clients on which systems best fit their own applications. This follows an energy audit which identifies energy consumption of the client’s facility and any processes, for example in detecting inefficient lighting or energy wasteful processes. These can be remedied by:

-Intelligently redistributing lighting points to provide correct light levels

-Implementing motion detectors in office corridors and toilets

-Installing timers to turn off the lights at the end of the workday

-Replacing traditional incandescent lamps for low-power LED systems

Transport is a major contributor to global warming. It constitutes a significant proportion of a business’ direct activity, for example through a company car fleet, or indirectly through unavoidable business travel.

If you have a company fleet, it is necessary to reduce its impact through preventive maintenance and the use of quality materials that promote performance and lengthen its life (tyres, lubricants, clean filters, adhere to manufacturers’ service schedules etc.)

It is important that businesses make more informed and efficient decisions on different modes of transport (rail, sea, air and/or road). Travel and distribution should be planned in order to optimise itineraries and routing to avoid unnecessary emissions, time and cost.

We advise on all these issues and can create specific strategies and programs to maximise transport efficiencies to reduce costs and emissions.
